What to expect

Exploring Mexico just got a whole lot easier. On this full day adventure, you'll tick off no less than four different activities. Start with a guided visit of the archaeological site of Tulum, then head to a cenote for a swim. Next, it's off to Akumal for a spot of snorkelling. Round off your day with lunch at a beach club. Carmen, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The most photographed structure in the archaeological site is the Castillo, which is perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The Castillo might be the most famous, but there are plenty of other ancient Mayan ruins to explore, such as the Temple of the Descending God and the Temple of the Frescoes.'

The marvels of the Mayan culture will be revealed on your guided tour around Tulum. You'll learn about it's past as a walled city, and its former role as a trading hub. After the tour you'll have free time to explore at your leisure. Next, prepare to be dazzled by colours at an ancient Mayan cenote, a natural cave with a freshwater pool fed by underground water sources and considered sacred by the Mayans.

After a cooling swim, we'll head for the picturesque seaside community of Akumal, known for its laid-back atmosphere, natural beauty, and abundant marine life. With its intriguing underwater world, Akumal offers one of the best snorkelling experiences in the Riviera Maya. Encounter an array of tropical fish, corals, and perhaps even sea turtles. To complete your day, unwind and indulge in a tasty meal at a nearby beach club.

Really enjoyed the ruins, cenote and turtles. We finished at the turtle swim at 14:00 and drove to the beach club for a snack. We didn’t get back to our hotel until after 17:00 so would have preferred not to have done the beach club and snack which took 3 hours.

The guide nicknamed chewbacca was excellent and his knowledge throughout the tour was second to none. Could have spent more time however with the snorkelling with the turtles aspect and we were not allowed to take photos in the cenote and the official photographs we could purchase were extortionate so did not buy and was disappointed we could not get any photographic memories because of this

Our driver and rep were fab ..Damien I think the name .. shame no pics in caves as would have meant a lot to us as daughters 18th birthday but didn’t want to pay $50 for one pic … would have bought a few if were like $10 each

Really enjoyed the experience. Mario was very friendly and knowledgable. He really added to the experience and we enjoyed his company. Alex (the driver) was prompt and we felt very safe in his vehicle. He was always on hand to offer a hand should we need it. All the activities were great although we did feel the turtle snorkelling was a bit busy and couldn’t fully enjoy the experience due to crowding.
