Located in Dam Square next to the Royal Palace, the New Church, consecrated to Santa Maria and Santa Catalina, was rebuilt after the fire of 1421 and 1452 that almost completely destroyed it. Gothic in style with numerous neo-Gothic elements, it became the property of a cultural organization called Nationale Stichting De Nieuwe Kerk.
The New Church has been the scene of numerous events, the latest of which was the coronation of William Alexander as Moanrch of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
